Marvel Has Officially Dropped Donald Glover’s “Deadpool”

The much anticipated FXX’s animated Deadpool series, after a nice long development period, never came together. This sounded like a sureball a few months ago, when Donald and his brother, Stephen, announced that they would be creating and developing this show. It has now been revealed by FX CEO John Landgraf that it was really Marvel that put the brakes on the show.

“They didn’t want to do the show that Donald and Stephen wrote,” Landgraf said. “We would have done the show that Donald and Stephen wrote, but it wasn’t our decision. When Marvel decided not to do that show, we parted company with them as did Donald and Stephen. Now it’s totally up to them [Marvel] whether they hire someone else to do a different show.”

According to statements, this doesn’t mean that there won’t ever be an adult-oriented animated Deadpool show, and John Landgraf seems to be sure that one will eventually get made. But it is all up to Marvel.
