The internet is a great place to be and many of us spend countless hours on YouTube. It created singers, lifestyle vloggers, pet care, religious talks, mukbang shows and all sorts of titles. Now, we are presented with a plethora of content that we can choose from according to our preferences. There is always something for everyone on YouTube for us. If you spend enough time on YouTube, you would know there is an unboxing trend. People are making a living by unboxing things. Some are not shot purely on smartphones, but with a studio, great microphone and lighting as well. Sounds pretty easy and ridiculously awesome, right? Let us delve into this phenomenon, shall we?
It is essentially what it is called. Unboxing. As you can imagine, there are many things that can be unboxed, but why are people obsessed with those types of video on YouTube? We seek their reactions and reviews in hopes of either getting perspectives of the product or simply watch it because we cannot afford it. From electronic gadgets to beauty products, the choices are endless. There was once a different between unboxing and haul videos where unboxing is just a pair of hands with the narrator. These days, there seems to be an overlap of the concepts and we are totally fine with it. It is also the cheapest and best way for companies to promote their products.
For adults, we get a first glimpse of the things we wish to buy by going through the various types of unboxing videos available like food, make-up, shoes, CDs, smartphones and so much more. We get to have a first look at the features of the new iPhone that many of us cannot afford or check out beautiful inlay of the new Ariana Grande CD that we will never buy because why would you when there are music streaming platforms? Most of the time it is a pure indulgence of our curiosity of the things out there that we may or may not have. We just want to know what other people have to say about it like reaction videos. Whether we can afford to buy them is another issue.
One of the biggest audiences of unboxing videos is kids. They bring in a large portion of the money to the economy because once they see an item they are interested in; parents would most likely keep that in mind to get it for them as it is almost impossible to change their minds but to buy it for them. It doesn’t even have to be an expensive item because some of the most popular kid unboxing videos is the surprise egg. There is also a video of adults opening up 100 surprise eggs for us.
From YouTube videos of kinds unveiling the items in electronic gadgets to surprise toys, people are getting more curious each day, as we humans would be. What is the motivation of the unboxing video makers? That is pretty unclear, but unboxing videos have truly become a YouTube phenomenon by keeping viewers entertained, but also lend a hand to gain a better understanding of an item before deciding on it. As weird as it may sound for the people who have never watched an unboxing video, we encourage you to as it can save a lot of money!
