Things to know about Fuji Rock Festival:

  1. It takes about 2 hours to drive to Naeba Ski Resort from Tokyo city. You can take the Shinkansen bullet train to Echigo-Yuzawa station, then hop on a shuttle bus to the festival ground.
  2. Save money and have the full experience when you camp on the site instead of spending money on accommodation. Pay a campsite ticket and also bring your own equipment to set it up next to the festival site. Please check on the weather before deciding this as it may be rainy and muddy. Otherwise there are lodges nearby to book as well.
  3. There will be a lot of walking, so make sure to have proper shoes. It may take up to half an hour or more to get from one stage to the other and take into consideration that it may rain. Best to bring along suitable boots and ponchos because umbrellas are not allowed on the festival ground.
  4. Food and drink queues on festival site can get pretty long, so it is wise to stock up on some snacks. There are plenty of food stalls, so if you need to, make sure to get food before or after peak meal hours.
  5. Bring your own toilet paper for many reasons. Fuji Rock Festival did great by making sure there are enough toilets, but it will get dirty as the day go by and toilet paper running out.
  6. You will be there for the entire day, so time management is very important by considering the walking time to get to each stage through the narrow paths with over 100,000 festival goers. The walking starts as soon as you alight the shuttle bus at Narba Prince Hotel’s parking lot because you need to walk to the entrance that will take another 20 minutes.
  7. With all the walking, it is important to take breaks as you will be on your feet for many hours. Make sure to find time to take breaks or bring along something to sit down on. It is very important to conserve your energy during music festivals.

Hope that is enough to get you ready for Fuji Rock Festival ’18. If you have attended Fuji Rock Festival in the past, do share with us other tips and things to do on festival site in the comment box below.
