The Masked Singer Predictions

There’s a new show in town and it’s called The Masked Singer. This new reality competition show on FOX network is the American version of the very popular South Korean original King of Mask Singer that was first aired in 2015. The concept of both shows is very easy. Famous guests would dress up in unrecognizable ensembles, take the stage to sing and a panel would have to guess who is behind the mask. Sounds simple, but it’s trickier than you think. Let us discuss the current three episodes and what our predictions of who the people behind the masks could be.
While the South Korean version would have the mystery guest in an abstract mask and silly but still fitted clothes, the US version made them into characters of their stage names. At the moment, we have seen Alien, Bee, Deer, Hippo, Lion, Peacock, Pineapple, Poodle, Rabbit, Raven and Unicorn with three members “unmasked” from the episodes. There is a total of 12 celebrities on The Masked Singer and we will now attempt to predict who they could be along with the four panels of judges namely Robin Thicke, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong and Jenny McCarthy.
(We won’t discuss on Hippo, Pineapple and Deer who have already been “unmasked” in the last three episodes not to give you spoilers.)
Prediction: Donny Osmond
This is one jazzy bird and right off the back, the Peacock is clearly an entertainer who confirmed that he had performed in Las Vegas before and had dramatic acting roles. In his first clue clip, he said, “It’s probably been a while since your mom had a poster of me on her bedroom wall” as well as feeling like 5 years old starting out as a teenybopper. Sounds too much like Donny Osmond to us at this point. Then he performed “The Greatest Show” by Hugh Jackman and “Counting Stars” by OneRepublic with so much stage presence, it takes much experience to achieve that and Donny Osmond has all of that.
There is only one T-Pain and the voice is too distinctively him. Who knew we would have needed a T-Pain version of “Don’t Stop Now” by Queen or “"I Don't Want to Be” by Gavin DeGraw? Last year, T-Pain had been questioned for having a loaded handgun at an airport last year, which may be why he is the “Monster” and he has also been teased for using auto-tune throughout his career in which he was “misunderstood”. We’d be damned if this isn’t T-Pain.
Prediction: Tori Spelling
This is a tricky one, but the clues lead to Tori Spelling despite not being able to put that voice to the ‘90s TV show Beverly Hills, 9010 actress. She was born in Beverly Hills and not fond of her childhood. The Unicorn also said that people call her bird and Tori actually means bird in Japanese! There is also a clip of Tori Spelling singing on YouTube that led us to believe it could be her performing Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” and then Britney Spears’ “Oops I Did It Again”.
Prediction: Rumer Willis
A very strong contender to win The Masked Singer and we are very certain this is Rumer Willis, the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. With very charismatic performances of “California Dreamin” by The Mamas & The Papas and “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone, the Lion has given the judges a few jaws dropping moments on the show. This self-proclaimed “Hollywood royalty” has a professional vibe to her and it just sounds too much like Rumer Willis.
Prediction: Donnie Walberg
His Donnie Darko-like twitching character on stage really caught our attention. The Rabbit also said he used to be a part of a group, then add that with his confident and goofy stage presence, we are thinking Donnie Walberg from the New Kids on the Block because the episode was titled “New Masks on the Block.” Donnie Walberg is also judge Jenny McCarthy’s husband, so the show may even throw us a surprise like that. We can’t be 100% sure on this as our first prediction was Joey Fatone from ‘N Sync, but he went on to claim that he isn’t, so we had to go with our second choice.
Prediction: LaToya Jackson
The Alien said she has a family in the public eye with many sisters. Although LaToya Jackson only had two sisters, the sass and voice definitely point to her on the show. There are also a few points that led us to not being 100% sure of this pick that even online fans don’t have enough guesses to help us out. We’d be blown away if this is actually LaToya Jackson.
Prediction: Ricki Lake
We picked Ricki Lake because clues of her having a talk show and suffered a tragic loss (her husband passed away in 2017) made it very obvious. Ricki Lake does have a voice and the Raven has it too. She also mentioned the word “cry baby” and one of Ricki Lake starred in the teen musical comedy movie Cry-Baby in 1990. We are putting our money on Ricki Lake on the Raven!
Prediction: Margaret Cho
All signs are pointing to comedian Margaret Cho for the Poodle. Clue of coming from a musical family but known for a different kind of talent, seems to be an advocate from the LGBTQ community and from San Francisco which gave us some hints. We have seen clips of Margaret Cho’s singing skills and it sounds too similar to the Poodle and it is definitely not Maya Rudolph as everyone predicted because she is from Florida. This one’s a tough one, but we put our bets on Margaret Cho.
Prediction: Gladys Knight
One of the biggest clues to the Bee is that she is a singer from the ‘50s and Gladys Knight started out as Gladys Knight & The Pips that started their career in 1952. That tone is undoubtedly of Gladys Knight. Definitely one of the most soulful and distinct voices on The Masked Singer that could take her to the end of the competition.
