The staple attraction at the infamous Glastonbury debuted in the capital last year as a result of the festival’s fallow year. But organisers have just confirmed that Arcadia London 2019 has been cancelled.
Initially, there had been plans to stage Arcadia in London once again in 2019, with the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park booked as the venue to play host to the event from May 4-5. According to previously released posters, the lineup included some big EDM names in the industry including Jamie Jones, DJ EZ, Sasha, Flava D, and more.
Organisers have decided to cancel this year’s event as they aren’t “confident of hitting the targets” that would allow the development of a “new experience” and honor their existing commitment to Glastonbury.
“A vast new project is taking shape at Glastonbury that will lay the foundations for a new site-specific landscape and an evolving show in the sky over the next five years,” a spokesman from Arcadia’s organiser team said. “Arcadia’s priority must be to honour the support that Glastonbury have shown over this past decade.”
“Huge thanks to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for helping make last year so special – and for being so understanding and supportive this year.
Despite the cancellation, the organisers are still planning to take Arcadia overseas with 2019 tour dates to be announced shortly.
