The Grammys have been undergoing a lot of bad press lately, with some notable artists being snubbed, gender inequality, among other things. This time, Ariana Grande is rocking the boat, after Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich gave the Associated Press allegedly false information about the real reason Ariana Grande backed out of attending the 2019 Grammy Awards.
Ariana Grande declined performance and attendance at the 2019 Grammy Awards after there was a disagreement with the show’s producers over her performance. She took to Twitter to call out the Associated Press article, and addressed it with her side of the story. The Grammys had told AP that Ariana “felt it was too late for her to pull something together”, so Ariana addressed this in her tweet:
mhmmm here it is ! “too late for her to pull something together......” pic.twitter.com/YwuBOUkZjr— Ariana Grande (@ArianaGrande) February 7, 2019
According to Variety, producers refused to allow Grande to perform her latest ‘thank u, next’ single “7 rings”, which has already been climbing charts all over the world. The producers allegedly offered a compromise where she can include the song in a medley, but that they’d have to be able to choose the second song, she backed out. Grande stated that she offered three different songs, and was shot down.
Grande’s album ‘Sweetener’ is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album, and “God Is A Woman” is up for Best Pop Solo Performance.
