Big Reforms on Korean Music Streaming Platforms: Naver, Melon, Mnet, and More

The six Korean music streaming giants NAVER, Bugs, Melon, Genie, Mnet, and Soribada have announced that they will stop recording streaming numbers real-time during midnight (11am-7am), starting from July 11.

This reform is reportedly the solution to avoid people who take advantage of the low streaming rate at midnight to fake the result and increase specific streaming.

In April, singer Nilo’s old song (published in October 2017), beat EXO CBX, Wanna One, and TWICE to be on top of the streaming charts, making the public question what was going on and the control that the streaming platform had.
