Eminem vs Machine Gun Kelly: What You Need to Know and What to Expect

2018 is the year of rap feuds, but people are calling this one for the books. We had our fun watching Drake bump heads with Pusha T, which produced some of the best hip-hop songs of 2018––baby mamas, hidden children, all kinds of scandals were involved, and lines were crossed. Just when we thought that was it, enter Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly.

Eminem, also known as Slim Shady, also known as one of the most legendary rappers of all time, released his album ‘Kamikaze’ last week. He’s known for name-blasting and calling out whatever he wants to call out fearlessly in his raps, so it’s not much of a surprise that he makes plenty of enemies each time he releases work. In a track in the new album called ‘Not Alike’, Eminem dragged Machine Gun Kelly, addressing a 2012 tweet by MGK where MGK called Eminem’s daughter Hailie “hot as f**k”. Eminem didn’t hesitate to drop MGK’s name in the track, “If you wanna come at me with a sub, Machine Gun / And I’m talkin’ to you, but you already know who the f**k you are, Kelly / I don’t use sublims and sure as f**k don’t sneak-diss / But keep commenting on my daughter Hailie.”

Machine Gun Kelly fired back with a new track called “Rap Devil” (a play on the name of one of Eminem’s previous tracks “Rap God”) where he rapped: “Mad about something I said in 2012 / Took you six years and a surprise album just to come with a diss.”

The Internet is going wild, and although there doesn’t seem to be a clear verdict on who’s got the upper hand, memes of Machine Gun Kelly’s demise are going viral. The last time a fellow rapper had attacked Eminem’s daughter Hailie was when rapper Ja Rule on a track, and people speculated that that played a big factor as to why Ja Rule’s career faded.

A few fellow rappers have also expressed their own thoughts on the feud, including D12, who took to Twitter to commend Machine Gun Kelly for a “decent diss track”, but also expresses that MGK has to watch out.

Do you think Eminem can top Machine Gun Kelly’s track?
