Legendary rock group and second family to the late Freddie Mercury QUEEN, alongside Adam Lambert, have announced that they will be performing at this year’s Oscars.
Lambert took to Twitter to share the news, tweeting that he and the iconic band “will rock” the Academy Awards ceremony this coming Sunday (February 24). Rightly so, Best Picture nominee Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic about late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, is up for four other Oscars. Rami Malek, who played Mercury in the film, is a frontrunner for Best Actor.
The Academy’s official verified account also teased the news on Twitter, referencing the opening lyrics of the track itself, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. “Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?”
Adam Lambert, who kicked off a successful pop career after he snagged runner-up on American Idol in 2009, had previously toured with the band as lead vocalist on their world tour between 2014 and 2018. Lambert had also been featured in a cameo role in the film.
