UK Rapper Cadet Dies in Car Crash Enroute to Gig

Rapper from South London, Cadet, who also goes by his real name Blaine Cameron Johnson, died in the early hours of Saturday morning. He died in a car crash on the way to a gig at Keele University in Staffordshire.
The news of his death was confirmed by his family on his official Instagram account. According to a statement, his management said the artist was a passenger in a taxi. Staffordshire Police confirmed Cadet died in the crash when the Toyota Prius he was traveling in collided with a van at 1.30am, and that he pronounced dead at the scene.
The 28-year-old has been rapping alongside Krept and Konan since he was a teenager, and he was due to perform that night at the student union night’s Fresh Friday, billed as “Staffordshire’s Biggest Hip Hop, Garage, and R&B Night”.
Artists, DJs, athletes, and fellow celebrities have all been paying tribute to the rapper. Stormzy took to Instagram saying he was speechless, and felt “mad, weird”, while Drake simply wrote RIP.
Cadet was set to have a massive year this year, with a lot of the music he was making on the A-list and most-played tunes.
